More Than Housing.
A Bridge to Healing.

Hunter Hearts & Homes was born from a simple truth: where you live directly affects how you heal.

Cherese Hunter, RN

Cherese is a proud graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Registered Nurse with over ten years of experience in trauma, surgical, intensive care, and orthopedics.

During the pandemic, she answered the call to begin travel nursing. That experience took her through communities across the country — and showed her, up close, how housing instability and health outcomes are directly connected.

With a strong foundation in communication, a demonstrated ability to build meaningful, trust-based relationships, and extensive experience coordinating person-centered care, she founded Hunter Hearts & Homes to bring a clinical perspective to the housing space.

This is not a side project. It is the next chapter — one centered on impact, service, and sustainable community change.

From Clinical Insight
to Community Impact

Clinical Foundation

Over a decade in trauma, surgical, ICU, and orthopedics — building deep expertise in patient care and clinical coordination.

Travel Nursing & National Perspective

Worked in communities across the country during the pandemic — witnessing firsthand how housing instability worsens health outcomes.

Founding HHH

Combined clinical insight with a commitment to community — creating a housing organization led by someone who understands health from the inside out.

Growing Impact

Today, HHH is a proud affiliate of the RISE Group, operating reentry-focused housing programs across Birmingham and Tuscaloosa — designed for the people they serve.

Our Values

Compassion First

Every person who walks through our doors is met with dignity, respect, and genuine care — not judgment.

Clinical Insight

Nurse-led means we see the full picture. Health and housing are not separate issues — and our approach reflects that.

Real Partnership

We work alongside case workers, social workers, and agencies — because real change takes a team.

Stability & Structure

A safe home is the foundation. Our programs provide the structure people need to rebuild and move forward.

Community Rooted

Birmingham and Tuscaloosa are home. We serve our neighbors with the depth of understanding that only comes from being part of the community.

24-Hour Response

When someone needs housing, waiting is not an option. We respond within 24 hours — because urgency matters.

Open Hearts.
Open Homes.
Open Doors.

Every person deserves a place where they can heal, grow, and move forward. That is what we provide.
